One of the questions we get asked most frequently in the shop is “What marker should I buy?”

The answer can vary depending on budget and goals. Here are some of our most frequent recommendations.

Valken Razorback and HK Army SABR: These are great entry level markers for the casual player. If you plan on playing a few times a year and are tired of renting equipment, these are great budget options. Ranging from $100-$150 these are a great way to get started with paintball. Do know that if you get serious into the sport you will likely upgrade from one of these markers within 6 months.

Planet Eclipse Emek: This is the best entry level marker if you intend on playing consistently and don’t necessarily need a tournament capable marker. The Emek starts just under $300 and is very upgradable with a variety of body kits, trigger options, and enhanced valve assemblies available on the market.

Planet eclipse Etha 2 and 170r: These are going to be your starter options for tournament play depending on budget. Starting just under $500 for the Etha 2 and $900 for the 170R, both of these are a great way to have a marker that is good for both recreational and tournament play. The 170R is the slightly upgraded version being all metal and having a quick release bolt cap. Both markers use the same bolt system so will shoot very similarly.

Markers we do not recommend: The markers we see come into the shop the most are mini GS and Axe 2.0. The older axes and mini’s seem to hold up better, we recommend staying away from the GS and 2.0 models.
